NAC Program Area:Conservation/Preservation/Restoration - Introduction

Introduction

One of the major subjects on which the National Association of Collectors gets several queries daily relates to the broad topic of conservation, preservation and restoration. And, although there is a great deal of information on all three of these areas, collectors seem to be unsure of where to go for advice or assistance.

The NAC program in this area will not be capable of responding to every query with a specific solution to the problem at hand (even if we knew all the answers!). We will strive for providing contacts to a wide variety of resources. We will provide tips for conservation, preservation and restoration. We will provide discussion forums in these areas. We will provide a mechanism for you to leave your query for others to respond to.

For many collectors who enjoy "hands on" projects, we will attempt to provide resources to help you do the conserving, preserving or restoring yourselves.

A Program Advisory Group has helped develop this program area and continues to monitor, add to, and refine the information on an ongoing basis. This group is here to assist and give advice whenever necessary. Discussion Forums are available for collectors to gain more specific information from a variety of forum participants. A listing of Resources for this Program Area is provided, as well as a Reference Archive.

The goal of the National Association of Collectors (NAC) is to identify and address those needs and concerns that are common to all collectors by providing a broad range of information and resources.
