Branderie de Lille. On the first weekend in September, at many locations throughout the city, the whole town is transformed into a giant outdoor fleamarket.

Porte de Vanves. In the southern part of Paris, open weekends. This market has around 200 stalls selling bric-a-brac, antiques and collectibles, and has something for just about everyone. Most of the stallholders have a general collection of collectibles with some specializing in antique soda siphon bottles, original photographs, toys, art, aviation, clothing, furniture and much more. Go early. Even though the market is advertised as being open all day, often many of the stalls are done by noon.

Clignancourt, Porte de Saint Ouen. This is the fleamarket that gets all the publicity - thousands of stalls and shops spread over 11 different market sites in an area bounded by four streets, this is the historic location of the world's original Puces, situated just outside the city boundaries and therefore free from official interference. A fantastic variety of items, from enormously expensive antiques to piles of junk that require some serious sifting before the gems appear.
